Curated by Art Agenda, Everything Light Touches: Panorama Paintings from Private Collections is a rare showcase of a dozen panoramic pictures on loan from private art collections in Singapore that traces a capsule history of modern Asian art.

Spread across three historical spaces on the second floor of The Arts House, Singapore’s oldest colonial building, the exhibition reveals how the wide view panorama format offers, literally, an expansive breadth of possibilities to artists.

Across time and space, artists have reserved the most iconic and consequential of subject matters, reflected upon historic and historical places and scenes and conveyed powerful momentous sentiments in panorama paintings, according them outsized places of importance in art history.

Highlights of the exhibition include Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita’s paradisiac
Visionary Landscape (1917), which marked modern Asian art’s rise during the fountain head of early 20th century Europe; and Affandi’s At The Beach (1982), a monumental abstraction of the crashing waves at Parangtritis beach in Indonesia.
